THE FIELD GUIDE / ABOUT

Useful information. Clear sources.

How this guide handles sources, changing details, venue descriptions, original advice, and the limits of a published climbing guide.

Sources and original guidance

Venue-specific descriptions draw on the operator’s published information. Outdoor access context uses land-manager sources where available. Practical planning sections are original editorial guidance. We link source pages so readers can distinguish official information from our interpretation and revisit the underlying details.

What a review date means

A reviewed date means the cited online information was consulted for this edition. It does not mean a venue was physically inspected, a climbing route was assessed, or live conditions were checked at the moment you read the page. We do not claim firsthand experience that has not been documented.

Changing information stays with its owner

Hours, prices, classes, access restrictions, and membership terms can change. We generally direct readers to the responsible operator rather than reproduce a long list of transient details. If an official source and this guide differ, use current official information and ask the operator to resolve uncertainty.

No invented authority

We do not manufacture testimonials, star ratings, visitor totals, certifications, endorsements, or scheduled activities. Our selected directory is not a complete ranking of Bay Area gyms. No paid placement or affiliate commission is part of this launch edition.
